The Frutto di Mare jewellery telephone
was in many ways a milestone in for Splendor Ltd. It was the first piece of
jewellery that was significantly different in its technical execution from
the traditional of more unique jewellery. Making a jewellery telephone required
knowledge and considerations outside jewellery craftsmanship while also needing
to be able to compete in a jewellery competition.

Our first jewellery telephone was originally
designed in 2003 for the International Tahitian Pearl Trophy. This event is
also called the Olympics of jewellery competitions, which is supported by
the fact that several hundred contestants bring expensive, high quality pieces
to the competition, all of which focus on the Tahitian Pearl.
In 2003, the Splendor workshop took
a deep breath and plunged into the unknown. We started working on a piece
about which we had noone to turn to for advice, as we knew of no other goldsmith
or jewellery company in the world that designed unique, custom-made jewellery
telephones.
