2007

The year 2007 seemed very full from the start. A great number of jewellery competitions were being organized, numerous events were to be held, and it seemed that we had a chance to continue to grow.

Since the beginning, we had worked in many areas of jewellery making, but most of all in designing pearl jewels due to the many competitions. Because of an Australian competition, we spent a considerable time devoted to the study of opals. This stone is a exceptional geological miracle, which can not be synthesized to look like an original. Each piece is unique with great variety in color, hue, shape and size. We admire its unicity and feel that it is in sync with our mentality and taste. We sincerely hope that we can display many more of our new opal jewellery in the future.

This year was spent primarily at competitions and events important either professionally or otherwise for the Splendor team.

The first event of the year was the Hungoro jewellery exhibition in Syma stadium, where it has become a tradition for us to present ourselves.

During the Spring, we competed in the "Most Beautiful Jewel" competition at the International Karat Expo, which was held in BNV, where we won in almost every category.

More about the jewellery and the competitionl...

The "Whirlpool of Flames" ring is the work of Orsolya Ráski Nagy.

The "Whirlpool of Flames" ring, sister of the internationally acclaimed "Whirlpool of Flames" earrings, received first place in the ring category.

The "Whirlpool" earrings made by Dániel Nagy are sisters of the acclaimed "Whirlpool" pendant.

Gergely Zsendovics was the creator of the bracelet named "Volcano".

Splendor was present at the Jewellery Arts Awards in the United States. Unique, innovative pieces and specially cut stones are in the focus of this competition organized by the Lapidary Journal, a monthly periodical specializing in precious stones.

Three of Splendor's pieces received prizes at the awards:

Ágnes Kertész's "Message" ring earned her an international second place.

Daniel Nagy's The "Whirlpool" earrings, the sisters of the "Whirlpool" pendant, which won at the Karat Expo.

"Frutto di Mare", the novelty jewel mobile telephone won ABSOLUTE FIRST PLACE, which, on an international level, has great significance for Hungary.

"Frutto di Mare" is the "fruit" of the joint labor of the Splendor-Jewellery team and was originally designed to compete.

The telephone took four months to complete. Made of 14k yellow and white gold, in the shape of a seashell, the piece is built around a fully functioning Samsung s300 mobile phone. The piece is decorated with pearls and hundreds of diamonds as well as hand-carved and chiseled a keypad made from rock- crystal.

The phone had won several prizes on a national level, as well as second place at the International Finals of the Tahitian Pearl Trophy, which is probably the largest jewellery competition in the world.

Among all the challenges, it is also important to relax and take part in useful and interesting activities…

Thus we took a professional fieldtrip to New York the one of the longstanding centers of diamond trade. We saw the famous Diamond Exchange.

We also took part in a training course held in Lyon, France, the birthplace of one of the most sophisticated jewellery design software. During the course we were taught by the developers of the software which will allow us greater space and for creativity, and for ideas to come about.

Returning from Lyon, we nearly missed the deadline for the Australian Yowah based opal competition, we were greatly pressed for time while completing our pieces.

It was not an easy task, as opals are sensitive stones and one wrong move is enough to break a piece. Some of our jewellery did not make it in front of the judges for just this reason.

At last, the pieces arrived with the help of God and a Hungarian goldsmith living in Australia, to the Yowah, which is surrounded by deserts.

Luckily, the strenuous work and great energy that was invested in the jewels paid off, as a result beautiful pieces came to life that were acclaimed by the judges.

Categories of the competition were defined according to price. Most of our jewellery fell into the 1000-5000 dollar category in which we won all three places. Other pieces completed in other price ranges: one received first, the other second place.

We are very proud to have receive such places at an international event with such strong competition.

We are preparing for the other competitions are yet to come this year, and hoping that beautiful, tasteful and unique pieces will populate our shop showcases.
